Welcome Aboard

I’d like to introduce the newest member to our campus community – Jess Secrest. Jess started working as an AmeriCorps Team Leader earlier this week and will continue her service work through September of this year. Her office is located upstairs of the WEV Building. She can be reached at (406) 768 6349 or by email at JSecrest@fpcc.edu.

Jess Secrest is the current Montana Campus Compact AmeriCorps Team Leader serving at Fort Peck Community College. She has worked and volunteered with at-risk youth and students of all ages and abilities in outdoor education and classroom settings through organizations, including the YMCA, Channel Islands Boating Center, and Casa Pacifica Centers for Children and Families in Southern California. As an at-risk student, herself, she attended a continuation high school where, with additional support, she graduated in 2008. Beginning with remedial math and English classes at her local community college, she successfully transferred to and completed her Bachelor of Arts in sociology at California State University Channel Islands. It is through her own experiences of feeling incapable and overwhelmed, as a struggling student looking at the prospect of higher education, that she finds the optimism and confidence in the youth she works for today.
